PHI vs. OTT Pick: OTT ML

Three straight Daily Picks have come up short, and two of them could’ve gone our way with one different bounce. We’re looking to finally get one back tonight, and the play is Ottawa on the moneyline at -150 against Philadelphia.

The Flyers haven’t found their footing yet. They’re 0-2-2, have been outscored 17-5 and have managed just 76 shots while giving up 158. The power play is still looking for its first goal, too. Four games isn’t enough to define a season, but Philadelphia has spent most of this one playing from the wrong end of the ice.

Ottawa gets its home opener tonight with Linus Ullmark back in net. He’s been excellent through his first two starts, and that gives the Senators an advantage against a Flyers offense that hasn’t shown much life so far. If Ottawa can get on top of this game early, Philadelphia hasn’t shown much yet to suggest it’s comfortable chasing.

The Senators aren’t completely healthy, with Jake Sanderson still out and Artem Zub not yet back, but there’s enough here to like anyway. Ottawa has been the more dangerous team going forward, Ullmark gives them the stronger goaltending situation, and the matchup comes against a Philadelphia side still trying to get its season moving.

After three frustrating days, we’re backing Ottawa to be the team that finally gets us back on track.
